[Chapter One]
Into The Millennium Tour, 1999, 17th of November ![]() "... It's gotta be you uh huh, uh huh... Everyday... I promise you I will be true, Yeah... It's only you!!" Roars of cheering and applauses rang through the whole concert arena as they bowed to their audiences after the last song. Nick grinned cheekily at the audience even though he was almost out of breath from the earlier dance. Kevin took a peek at him before walking up to the front of the stage to say his thank yous to the wonderful audience. After which, the guys went back to the backstage. "It's FINALLY the last show!" Nick yelled at the top of his lungs, doing a little dance while shaking his ass. "Man, you still have all the energy, huh?" AJ laughed. "Yeah, we can finally take a big break before our next album and I thank the man above for that." Nick said and grabbed a towel from the chair and wiped his sweat away. "Well, we should and it'll be good if you'll ever take time off to go to church." Brian joked. "Whatever-" Nick said. "But I'm going. Maybe this week-" "Or maybe next week. Or maybe next month-" Brian continued teasing. Nick made a face at Brian and pretended to look pissed off. "Com'on guys, let's go to the dressing room and get changed." Kevin said. "Alrighty! I smell like a fish now in this outfit. Ewww!" Nick said, while the others laughed along. ... Nick took his clothes and went over to the next room to change instead because he was still rather shy to change with the others looking at him. The guys have always laughed at him about this but he never bothered much. While he was changing his pants, the door suddenly swing opened. It was Kevin. "Sorry Nick, I didn't mean to..." Kevin said and started to back off. He could not keep his eyes off Nick's baby smooth skin and almost wanted to die when his eyes roam down to his briefs. "It's all right." Nick said. He was getting nervous, as he knew that Kevin was staring at him and he did not moved a bit. Kevin was shaken out of his thoughts and quickly shut the door to hide his growing bulge from Nick's view. "What are you doing, Richardson?" Kevin said and hit himself on his head. 'Now what will Nick think? God, please don't let him have any idea what is going on...' he thought. Nick was still staring at the closed door. He could not shake off the look on Kevin just now. He was staring at him. And there seemed to be a hint of lust in his eyes. "You must be tired. Quit thinking too much." he told himself and was about go back to the other room when a familiar female voice loomed outside. "Kevin, what are you doing here?" 'He's still there?' Nick thought. "Nothing... Nick is this room and I just came out. Well, I gotta go change." he smiled nervously and went back to the opposite room. The girl knocked on the door. "Yes, come in Faith." She turned the door knob and swinged the door open, causing the door to slam against the wall. "What's that for?" "Mandy is getting annoyed with the screaming fans outside and she yelled for me to come in and ask you out." Nick sighed to himself. "I'm sorry. I wasn't getting angry with you, it's just Mandy-" "I know." Nick cut her off. "If I were you, I would probably be getting on my nerves too," he laughed with a tinge of bitterness in it. "I'd better go out now or Mandy will be screaming at me when we get out of this place." Faith walked over to Nick and motioned for him to come near her. She lowered her voice and whispered into his ears. "I do worry about you, Nicky. You know that." Nick was touched. "Don't worry. I know what I'm doing and I'll be okay. I swear upon that." She was not sure but she chose to believe him. ... As they walked out to the arena, they heard several fans calling names at Mandy. Some were even hurling stuff and making obscene gestures at her. Nick ran up and shouted to his fans, "Hey, stop it!" Everyone was stunned and the whole arena suddenly turned ghostly silent. "You are my fans but you have no rights to treat my girlfriend in this way." Nick said. One fan stood out from the small crowd and moved forward. "And she have no rights to abuse you." Abuse. Nick cringed. He hated that word even though he knew that it was true. "Defend yourself, Nick. If you can't, we'll help you!" the fans started to chant. Mandy looked over to Nick and was acting all emotional. Her eyes had turned red and puffy and she just stood there, letting the fans scream names at her. "She did not abused me. I love her." he said, the last three words coming out of his mouth unwillingly. And with that, Nick took Mandy's hand and ran out of the arena, leaving his fans and Faith behind. ... "Let go of my hand!" Mandy shouted. They both stopped running and Nick let go of her hand. Both of them stood there for a few minutes before Nick finally spoke up. "If it's too much for you to take, let's go our separate ways." Mandy lifted her head slowly, with a stunned look in her eyes. 'No way, I can't leave him now. If I do, who in the world is going to help me in my singing career.' she thought. "Nick, you're kidding, right?" she asked. "No. Seriously, I'm sick and tired of all these. The way fans treated you and.. the way you treated me-" "Well, how did I treat you?" "Okay, let's just not go into that. I'm in no mood for that topic." Anger was getting to Mandy and she does not like the way Nick was treating her. So, her earlier thoughts vanished in her whirlpool of anger. "Listen, Nickolas Gene Carter. I am the one who is leaving you. Goodbye." she said and left, without even turning her head to look at Nick. She knew that she will regret this later, but now she could care less about it. 'I'll come back and deal with you again.' she thought. Nick sighed a relief for he had put one heavy responsibility aside. But he was sad. But he would rather let her go then having the both of them suffer. Or maybe he was the only who was suffering, he thought. The memories of their time spent together flashed back into his mind. From the first time they met, they love, they fight and now, they part. ![]() He let out a heavy sigh and cleared his mind. 'What's the use in thinking about her and our past now?' he thought and glanced at his watch. He deduced that the fans must have already left and ran back to the arena. ... Kevin was sitting on a chair at the backstage, drinking a cup of hot coffee when Nick came walking in. Nick noticed that rest of the guys and Faith were not around and was puzzled. "Kev, where did the rest go?" Kevin put down the cup of coffee and walked towards the other chair and picked up his bag. He took Nick's bag and threw it to him. Nick almost missed catching it. "They have gone for supper with Faith. Come on, let's join them." Kevin carried on walking towards the exit, assuming Nick would follow behind. But he heard no footsteps. He turned around and noticed Nick was still standing there, looking into infinity. Kevin asked in a concerned voice, "Nick, you're alright?" Nick lifted his head, sadness filled his face. "If I tell you I'm alright, I'm lying." "What happened?" Kevin asked as he walked towards Nick. "I just broke up with her." "What?" he said, feeling a little happy inside his head. He had hoped that he was not hearing things. "I am tired of all the responsibility. And-" "I know Nick. I know. It's time you let her go. The guys may not know, but I do." Nick looked at him, surprised at what he had just say. 'He knows? What does he know? Did Faith told him?' he thought. "What are you talking about?" he asked. "Nick, trying to hide the truth isn't going to do you any good. Even though the guys think that the rumor around you and Mandy is fake, I choose to believe it." Kevin said, looking straight into Nick's eyes. Nick kept silent and looked away from Kevin. "I saw the bruise on your hip. Now I finally know the reason why you always wanna change in a different room." Nick finally lose it. He dropped his bag onto the floor and squaded down, folding his arms around his legs and buried his head in them. Kevin heard a small sniffle from him. He squaded down beside Nick and put a comforting arm around him. "Nicky, she isn't worth your tears. Save that for someone who truly loves you for who you are and not what you are." "Kev?" Nick said in a small voice. "Yeah?" "Can you hug me?" he said awkwardly. "I just need someone to hold me." Nick did not know why but he felt the need. Kevin just smiled and stood up, opening his arms to welcome Nick into a hug. They just stood there for a long time without speaking a word. Kevin tried to squeeze him hard, hoping to drive away all the sadness that was invading Nick heartlessly. But Nick did not know that Kevin was also using the moment to satisfy himself. The need to hold Nick and to feel him have been driving Kevin crazy. On the other hand, Nick felt safe and warm in his arms. A feeling that he had never felt before. It was weird since it was Kevin who was making him feeling in this way. But he loved it. He. Loved. It. 'What... am I thinking?' Nick thought. Kevin inhaled the smell of Nick's hair and was feeling all dreamily. He thought he was in another one of his dreams. But then, Kevin realized that he was getting a hard-on and he cursed himself softly. "What did you say, Kev?" Nick asked as he let go of him. "Well... look at the time. It's already pretty late. Do you still wanna join the rest?" Nick looked at him thoughtfully. "No, you know I don't like crowds. Besides it is already past midnight." "Okay... Let's get back to the hotel then." |
