[Chapter Sixteen]
"I am one hundred percent not against them being together," Howie said, walking to the refridgerator to get another beer.
AJ relaxed and smiled, thanking God he did not have to listen to yet another "What? They are gay?" comment. He recalled the conversation with Amanda yesterday and boy, did he had a great time on it! He had thought that Poopy, whom he affectionately called, would have been calm when she heard the news. But instead, she had thrown out a lot of questions and had AJ almost going crazy. Fortunately, when she finally calmed down and got herself together again, she realized that it was foolish to think that being homosexual is wrong. She could not believe that Kevin and Nick were together now, but she gave them her blessings anyway. Howie took another can of beer from the refridgerator and tossed the can over to AJ. "The thought that homosexuality is a sin has never crossed my mind... Especially considering that I have been labeled as one, when I'm not." He shook his head and sat back down on the couch. "Doesn't take away the fact though that their relationship will stir up disapproval. If I, as their band mate and friend, would not support them, I would not be honoring my nickname. They don't call me 'Sweet D' for nothing, you know. I love 'em like my family, Bone. What you just told me will not change my opinion of them and I seriously mean it." AJ smiled and nodded. "D, I'm sure Kevin and Nick will be glad to hear that," he said, taking a sip from his can and savoring the taste of the beer. "How about Kristin and Brian?" AJ coughed at the mention of their names. He used the back of his hand to wipe off the beer that had been coughed out from the corner of his mouth. "Kevin says that he will take care of it." He sighed. "It's going to be tough breaking the news to Brian. But Kristin... She's such a wonderful woman. I guess Kevin doesn't have the fate to marry her and chooses a whiner instead," AJ said, laughing at his own joke. Howie could never understand how AJ could be making jokes about serious matters as this one. He figured it must be AJ's way of trying to lighten the mood, to give things a place or just to try and lighten up matters that got too serious for him to handle. Howie had to hand it to Amanda, for she was probably the only one who could understand the way AJ's mind worked. "I've gotta go to the studio now. Can't show up drunk for an interview, now, can I? Save the beer for me, okay?" AJ asked. Howie nodded and walked with AJ to the door to see him out. "Let them know that I am supporting them and give them my blessings." AJ smiled a bright smile. "I sure will," he agreed and left. ... Nick watched as Kevin went through his huge white wardrobe, trying to pick out the perfect shirt and pants that he was going to wear and go on the recording. He glanced down at his watch, looking at the number as each second jumped by and stared back at Kevin. He rolled his eyes when Kevin picked the fifth shirt out from that wardrobe and threw it onto his bed. Getting impatient, he walked up to his wardrobe closet and closed it. "Mr. Perfectionist, are you done?" he asked, leaning against the closet. "About done. We actually have an hour more and the drive down there takes only ten minutes. What's the hurry?" It was the fourth time he heard Kevin say that. He wondered if Kevin had stolen that line from his book because he was always the one coming up with a million excuses. "If you are still not satisfied with whatever clothes you have now, may I suggest going on naked?" Kevin arched an eyebrow at him and chuckled. "I suppose you are eager to see me out of these human manufactured stuff, huh?" he said, pulling at his white wife beater. Nick's ears and face flushed into an amazingly different shade of red before turning into the deepest crimson that Kevin had ever seen. Kevin chuckled at what he saw and suddenly, pulled his wife beater off without warning. Nick's eyes grew big and he turned away at once, facing the blue wall which had a few paintings hanging on it. Kevin scratched his head a little, wondering why would Nick be so shy when he had seen him without his clothes on for a bazillion times. 'Maybe it was because of that little bath room incident a while back.' he thought. He smiled and went up to Nick and curled his arms around Nick's waist, hugging him tightly to his body. Nick was a little stunned but began to relax when Kevin started to nuzzle his neck from the back. "I love you, Nicky," Kevin whispered huskily into his ears and he could only moan in response. When his hand moved to Nick's stomach, Nick shifted his hand away. Kevin was a little baffled by that action. "Nick, did I do anything-" "No." Nick said as he turned around. "I am just not very proud of having this stomach and I don't-" "Shh..." Kevin put a finger on his lips to stop him from what he wanted to say. Bending down on his knees, he lifted Nick's shirt up to expose his stomach and gave it a few butterfly kisses. He looked up at Nick with love in his eyes and Nick just looked back down at him shyly. "Don't be ashamed of it. This is a cute trait of yours and just don't bother about what the others think. And remember, I'll still love you and like you in whatever shape that you are." Smiling at Kevin, he pulled him up by his arms and hugged him. He ran his hand slowly down Kevin's muscular back, enjoying the touch of his palm feeling the bare skin. "Boo, how is it possible that you can love and like me at the same time and what exactly is the difference?" Kevin was a little taken aback and raised his eyebrows at the sudden and profound question. He moved back and took Nick's hand, leading him to his bed. They sat themselves down and Kevin put on a serious look before starting to explain. "Nick-" he started, squeezing his hand gently. "I don't want to bring up that person who has hurt you so much. But I am going to since I am explaining this." Nick nodded his head, knowing in his mind who Kevin is talking about. "Does Mandy always say that she loves you?" Nick nodded reluctantly. "That is not love. That is only love through verbal and not love from the heart. God, that is not even love. The things she does only produce hurt towards you. If physical and mental abuse towards someone is call love, then she is officially certified insane. Love does not interfere with hurt and that is the last thing you are going to get from me," he stopped for a while and kissed him on his nose lightly. "And love is to respect and to protect your loved ones, that is why I love you. I could continue on forever and come up with a million reasons, but you get the idea and love really does not need any words to be expressed with. It comes from that person's heart and can be seen through his or her actions." He smiled at Nick and gave him a soft kiss on his cheek before continuing with his theory. "Like is a different case. Many people mistook that 'love' and 'like' are of the same meaning. You can love that person, but, at the same time, you can dislike that person as well." Nick gave him a questionable look. Kevin thought for a while and decided to use himself as an example. "Well, what do you dislike about me?" Nick shaked his head. "Nothing. I like everything about you." "Nick-" Kevin laughed. "Don't fool me. I can see in your eyes. Just tell me." "Hmm... Well... Erm... Maybe... Well, it's not dislike but I find that your perfectionist thinking is a little too overboard." "See?" Kevin said. "You may love me, but you will also find fault in me too." "But I can learn to like your good and bad points and everything!" Kevin chuckled. "Relax Nicky... That's what I wanted you to know. When you say you love someone, remember that you cannot love without liking and accepting all of that person. I can love and like you at the same time is because I like and accept everything about you." He pulled Nick close to him and wrapped his arms around him. "Like for example, I accepted your 'Nintendo' craze, your little whining moments-" "I do NOT whine!" Nick retorted. "Look who's talking now?" Kevin teased. "Alright, alright. Just remember that I like everything about you and stop feeling inferior about your appearance," he continued, patting on Nick's stomach lightly. "And remember that when you feel bad about your size again, think of the millions of girls around this globe who swoon over you. And me of course." He winked at Nick and pulled him up on his feet, shoving him to the door. "Okay, before I get another big red apple in this room while I change, you'd better go out now." "Thank you." Nick said and kissed him gently on his soft lips. "And be quick." Kevin rolled his eyes and nodded before closing the door. "Anytime I need a mom," he chuckled and went to change his clothes. |
