Against The Odds I feel lost, woeful, Frightened in a forest of nothing, A maze of oblivion. Bitter winds sting my eyes, I cry, burning tears turning cold instantly. Blackness shrouds my eyes, Blinding me, terrifying me. There is no way out. I am helpless, fearful, alone, so cold… I feel you arms Encircle me. Promises of protection, affection, caring, All displayed within such A simple gesture. Warmth surrounds me, Cloaking me in a veil Of comfort and peace, Pumping to the ends of Every vein. I look at you, I see me. You look at me, and see you. We reflect one another In pools of sapphire and emerald. One soul are we, one breath we breathe. A flame we have both sparked Has raged into an inferno between us. We belong together, We confess it, consequences be damned. Yet, cold pawns stymie us, Striving to rip us apart. They can not and will not Understand what we mean to each other. Why is life never perfect? Questions arise, Challenging our love. Fear returns, Rearing it's frigid, awful head. Jealousy narrows its eyes. Hate pushes at our minds, Hoping to surface in coursing waves. Despair invades, Wishing to conquer our hearts. Everything pushes to the brink. Is it honestly worth it? To risk everything we have, Everything we have made, Everything that others love about us- Is this worth the risk? I look into you, Into your soul, mind, body. I feel your petal-soft touch As your lips brush mine. The unbelievable swelling In my heart Makes me want to cry. It burns sweetly And never ceases. You make me complete; You make me feel loved; You protect me; You make me soar. As I look upon you again, I have found my answer: Yes, it is worth everything and more. We will fight to make this A reality. Love truly crushes all obstacles, And we shall be living proof of that. Problems will arise And nothing will ever be normal. But we are in this together. I give you my heart, I promise you my soul, I dedicate my life to you. Our bond is linked By an eternal chain Which no force in the universe Can destroy. We are invincible together, One mind, one body, one soul, one love. For better or for worse, I love you with all my heart.
